Six Sentence Sunday 7/31

Another Sunday is here. Check out all the awesome authors participating this week by clicking HERE!

This week you get a little more from YOU’RE NOT THE ONE. It’s a continuation on from last week’s snippet. Enjoy!

Cassidy had no idea where they were. She’d been so focused on trying to not think about Evan and that absolutely-mind-blowingly-amazing kiss, that she hadn’t paid a moment’s attention to where they were actually driving. One minute they were leaving the house, and the next, they were walking in here.

Now she stood in front of some contraption that she hadn’t the faintest idea about and was wishing desperately that she’d seen the sign on their way into the building.

Chip rushed over to greet them with a scowl on his face. “What the hell took you guys so long?”

And because I just got this very pretty banner yesterday, I’m including it too, although it has nothing to do with this week’s six. 🙂 It’s super pretty.

Cover Art–Love and Lattes!

I’m so excited to have cover art for LOVE AND LATTES which is being released on Sept. 10, 2011!! This is my first book and seeing my name on a cover is just amazing. I’m so thrilled with how it turned out. Reese Dante from Silver Publishing did an outstanding job creating my cover. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. *happy sigh*

Six Sentence Sunday 7/24

Another week is gone and another Sunday is here! Woot! Be sure to check out all the other cool authors participating this week by checking the main website HERE!!

Since all of the great vibes I got for YOU’RE NOT THE ONE last time scored me an agent—Jill Marsal of Marsal Lyon Literary Agency—let’s see if a few more great “Love Me!” vibes help get me a publisher! Couldn’t hurt, right? 😉

He held the door open for her as she grabbed the last chocolate croissant. Watching her take a bite as she passed in front of him made the taste of Cassidy’s mouth flood his mind again.

“I never knew chocolate could taste so damned good,” he whispered in her ear as she passed through the doorway.

Closing the door behind him, he mentally tried to force the last few minutes out of his mind. He had to focus on work now, or Chip would know that something had happened between them. No one could find out about what he and Cassidy had just done.

I Have an Agent!

OMG! I have an agent!

Yep. I’m still a little bit in shock. Can you tell? LOL!

I went to the RWA conference in NYC and it was wonderful. The workshops were very informative and entertaining. Meeting new writers and some online friends for the first time in person was a thrill. And let’s not forget the dreaded pitch…

Let’s start with the pitch, shall we?

I was nervous about pitching. I’d done a practice pitch with my RWA chapter girls a few weeks before and let’s just say it didn’t go well…if fact, I stunk. But I learned from my mistakes in practice and talking to what felt like a million strangers at the conference helped to prepare me. I was confident, and energized and ready to pitch my little heart out! Then I walked into the pitch room.

There were a few rows of scared faces and a woman with large handful of pages and an even larger voice yelling out names from the middle of the room. It was a little nerve wracking to say the least. But I waited for my turn and walked into the pitch with my confidence still in tact. I was determined not to risk this opportunity over a few silly nerves. No way. Nu-uh.

I pitched and I pitched pretty darn well if I do say so myself. After I pitched and had a good chat with an editor (who shall remain nameless at this point), she requested pages and outlines. Then she suggested I seek representation and pointed me toward the Marsal Lyon Literary Agency. I yelled a giant *SQUEE* in my head and politely said thanks!

That was Friday, July 1.

Sunday I contacted Marsal Lyon Literary Agency and two hours later I had a request for a full. I sent in the full the following day after a quick read-through and then waited. I was sure that there was no point in getting my hopes up…

Then on Friday, July 8th…I got…THE CALL.

Well, a pre-call really. It was one agent explaining that another agent would like to call me. Of course I said “anytime!” too quickly to be considered cool. She said it would be later that day. I said okay and practically passed out when we hung up. I texted my husband “Can you call me?!?!?!” to which he did…because he thought something was wrong. LOL! He hung up on a call with work and I instantly felt like a heel. We spoke for a whopping one minute when my cell phone rang again. At that point I yelled “My phone is ringing!” and hung up unceremoniously on my dear, dear husband. LOL.

My head spun so fast I thought I might fall over. An agent was calling me. ME?! Not only did she say she loved my book, but she wanted to represent me. ME?!?! I think I rambled on with her for a few minutes—I hope I didn’t sound like a crazy person! Then after we hung up, I started jumping up and down in the middle of my kitchen while my kids looked at me like I really was a crazy person.

I’m super excited to announce that I am now officially represented by Jill Marsal of Marsal Lyon Literary. SQUEE! And, Jill, I promise I’m not crazy… Well, no crazier than any other writers I associate with. 🙂

Six Sentence Sunday 7/10

It’s that time of the week again—Sunday! Be sure to check back to the main site for the list of participating authors this week. As always, thank you to everyone who comes by my blog each week to read and leave comments. I appreciate every one of you!!

This week I’m giving you a little taste of You’re Not the One. I figured this novel could use some ‘love me’ vibes this week, so feel free to offer those up to the publishing gods. LOL! In this scene we have Cassidy and Evan who are finally giving in to what they’ve wanted for so long. Giving in is so good…

“I only ever wanted one man to kiss me that day, and it wasn’t the surfer boy. And, there’s only one I want to kiss me again.”

His mouth hovered above hers, “I’m going to assume you mean me.”

Without waiting for her confirmation—without letting his conscience protest—he claimed her mouth with his. Her lips were as soft and delicious as he remembered. Cassidy’s tongue caressed his top lip, exploring and tasting him with gentle licks.
