My Secret Guilty Pleasure…

It’s time to let the secret out. I don’t want to hide anymore. It’s time you all knew my secret guilty pleasure…

I’m a total Reality TV junkie!

Sigh.

I know there are some of you out there gasping and shaking your head at your computer screen right now, but I can’t hide any longer. It’s true. I LOVE REALITY TV!!! I just can’t help myself. I love seeing real people compete for things! I know it’s ridiculous and probably more scripted than true reality, but I still love it… LURVE IT!!

My top favs are:

1. THE AMAZING RACE: There will never be a better show than this. I have loved it since the first season. The only season I didn’t care for was the one where it was families and they travelled around the USA. Boring! Hint to producers: If I wanted to see a Civil War reenactment, then I would go to one. This is the one show I would actually love to be on. Not that I ever plan on going on one the reality shows. But if I ever did want to, it would be this one.

2. SURVIVOR: Another great show. No other show will ever put people in quite the same position as these poor contestants have had to be in. I love to watch this show, but you couldn’t give me a guaranteed 2 million to go on that show for one week let alone 39 days. Nope! The lack of a bathroom, the smell of unclean contestants, OMG the spiders!!!!!, and the diet of rice and mangos….no way! I’m staying home on my spider-free couch with my bowl of ice cream and sprinkles. I barely made it through a 3 day juice cleanse to live and tell about it!

3. THE BACHELOR/BACHELORETTE: This show is just so full of awesome sauce, I don’t even know where to begin. The drama, the drama, the drama. Did I mention the drama? LOVE IT!! And I’m a serious romantic so I really can’t resist the possibility of a happily ever after. *happy sigh*

4. BACHELOR PAD: Have you seen this one yet?? It’s a spin off of The Bachelor/Bachelorette. Basically all the rejected contestants from the other show get thrown into a house together for a chance to win some money. LOVE IT!!! It’s so fun to watch all the familiar faces sucking face… Did I forget to mention how much they hook up with each other? A lot. Oh and the eye candy. Yum. What’s not to love about a bunch of hot guys walking around shirtless half the time?

5. BIG BROTHER: Oh big brother, how you make my summer nights complete… The competitions and ruthless and so are the contestants. LOVE!

OMG, I just realized that this list could just keep going and going!!! I haven’t even left the basic cable channels yet! LOL. Wowza, I watch a lot of reality TV. I think I have a problem. Good thing I don’t watch a whole lot of other kinds of TV.

So I guess I’ll call this part one….

…and now you know my guilty little secret. 😉

Six Sentence Sunday 1/8

Hello again! Thanks to all of you who keep coming back to read my snippets each week. I appreciate all of your comments. To check out all the other awesome authors participating this week, CLICK HERE!

This is the last snippet  you’re getting from BUNNY HILLS AND BIKINIS. After this, I’m going to give you snippets of something else! We’ve seen a lot of good moments between Nate and Amelia, but no romance can be all candlelight, roses, and sexytime. Especially not when there a grabby colleague in the mix who’s making his presence known.

She was something special. And he wasn’t about to let William take her away from him anytime soon. Yet there William was, sitting across from her—right where Nate should be. Their table so small and cozy, their knees could be touching under the table and no one would ever know.

As if on cue, William dropped his hand to his lap and it disappeared under the white linen tablecloth. Nate gripped his menu so hard it crumpled in his hands.

Now on to my favorite memories of New Years. I have to say I don’t have one specific memory. I haven’t had one NYE that really stands out from the rest as the end all, be all of NYEs. Sure I’ve had a few great ones out partying at some club somewhere. And I’ve had a few not so great ones. But none of those are the ones I come back to in my mind.

Instead, I think back to the ones that I spent with family and friends, eating lots of fattening appetizers, making mixed drinks (usually only halfway successfully), and sitting around a table playing games. Sometimes it’s Chicken Foot (dominoes). Sometimes it’s Canasta (cards). And sometimes it’s something silly like Yatzee. But whatever we do, we always share a ton of laughs. It’s the most perfect way to step into the New Year!

So, you want a chance to win a $10 Amazon.com gift card from yours truly?? All you have to do is leave a comment and tell me a little something about your New Year’s Eve! Who do you like to spend it with? How do you like to ring in the new year? What’s your favorite food or drink for the occasion?

This weeks snippet comes from BUNNY HILLS AND BIKINIS again. Nate and Amelia have finally found their way into each other’s arms. Amelia’s a tad impatient…

“You’re not even naked yet.” He laughed as she groaned with impatience.

“Close enough, damn it. Let’s go already.” She pleaded as best she could, trying desperately to convince him to move things along quicker. Pulling at his clothing with no effect for a few moments, she got frustrated and finally dropped her arms to the bed, giving into the feeling of his mouth on her skin.

2011, Day 365

Okay, so maybe I’m a couple of days shy of the new year, but it’s close enough! On Jan 1, 2011 I did a post called “2011, Day One.” In it I set a few goals for things that I wanted to accomplish during the year ahead. I thought it would be fun to go back and see how I made out. Here’s my list of goals taken directly from that post:

1. Get something published somewhere. Vague, but reasonable. And the most important goal of them all. This will be my year to get The Call.

2. Write a few books targeted to ePublishers. Totally doable. Not sure how many, but as many as I can. I’m falling in love with the idea of epublishing and I’d love to have books out there in ebook world.

3. Write my second single-title romance. Hmmm, I need to flesh out a few ideas for that one. I have a couple started, but they need some brainstorming.

4. Get an agent to represent my first or second single-title and shop it/them to publishers. That shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish, right? Right?! Oy…

Easy-peasy lemon squeezy. 🙂

That’s a pretty good list. So how did I make out with my goals? Let’s see, shall we?

1. Get something published somewhere.–Check! LOVE AND LATTES was published by Silver Publishing in Sept. BUNNY HILLS AND BIKINIS was indie-pubbed in Nov.

2. Write a few books targeted to ePublishers.–Check! LOVE ON LANDING, the second in the Meadow Ridge Series, is scheduled to be published by Silver Publishing in Jan 2012. And I’m currently writing another book for that series, which will hopefully get contracted as well.

3. Write my second single-title romance.–Check! I just finished the first draft of another full-length novel. This one is a paranormal romance. Although it isn’t a single-title since I believe it will be book one of a series. But I think this is close enough that it counts!

4. Get an agent…–Check!!!! I almost didn’t think it would happen, but it did. I’m represented by Jill Marsal and so far, she’s awesome. As for the second part of this goal, time will tell…

2011 was better than I could have dreamed when I originally wrote those goals back on Jan 1. I would have been happy if I’d been able to just accomplish one of them. To look back on the year and see that I completed all of them, well, what can I say but wow. I’m amazed. I’m blessed.

And I’m looking forward to what 2012 will bring. Time to set some new goals!
