Congratulations to the winner of the $10 Amazon.com gift card — Savannah Miller!
Hi everyone!
Hope you all had a safe and happy New Year’s Eve. Today I’m participating in a blog hop with over 60 other authors and we’re all chatting about our favorite New Year’s Eve memories. There’s a ton of great prizes offered at each stop. All you have to do is drop by and visit the participating authors and leave a comment for your chance to win. And the great news is, you can win more than once!!
Also, one lucky commenter from somewhere on the blog stop will win A Kindle Fire!!! And another random commenter will win an $80 Amazon.com gift card!!! The commenter will be chosen from all of the comments left at each of the stops so be sure to leave a comment here and everywhere else!! So many great prizes to be won. Don’t miss out!
Now on to my favorite memories of New Years. I have to say I don’t have one specific memory. I haven’t had one NYE that really stands out from the rest as the end all, be all of NYEs. Sure I’ve had a few great ones out partying at some club somewhere. And I’ve had a few not so great ones. But none of those are the ones I come back to in my mind.
Instead, I think back to the ones that I spent with family and friends, eating lots of fattening appetizers, making mixed drinks (usually only halfway successfully), and sitting around a table playing games. Sometimes it’s Chicken Foot (dominoes). Sometimes it’s Canasta (cards). And sometimes it’s something silly like Yatzee. But whatever we do, we always share a ton of laughs. It’s the most perfect way to step into the New Year!
So, you want a chance to win a $10 Amazon.com gift card from yours truly?? All you have to do is leave a comment and tell me a little something about your New Year’s Eve! Who do you like to spend it with? How do you like to ring in the new year? What’s your favorite food or drink for the occasion?
Check out the other authors participating in the blog hop here:
http://www.linkytools.
And while you’re here, why not check out LOVE AND LATTES and BUNNY HILLS AND BIKINIS? They’re both available now and guaranteed to give you at least a few laughs, some uber-hunky man candy and even a steamy scene or two. 😉

I like having a quiet New Years. I did the crazy party thing when I was younger and it’s just not something I want to do anymore. Hangovers aren’t fun. This year the husband and I went out to a nice Indian restaurant and had absolutely amazing food. We were only out until 10 and then we came home and snuggled on the couch to movies. Much more relaxing and fun than some of the other ones I’ve had.

My favorite memories that I have of New Years is celebrating my Mum’s birthday on New Years Day. We always had a huge family get together for her. She’s been gone a long time now, but it helps to remember how happy she used to be having all of her family around to celebrate her special day with her. I wish that she was still with us, she’s missed out on so much.

Ha, food on New Years…..before the kids and when they were little because we had turkey on Thanksgiving and ham on Christmas we started doing fish on New Years for something different. It was going well until a few years ago when the kids hit the late teen and asked “Ewww, fish? Why do we do fish on New Years???” So this year I did Cornish Hens!!(back to poultry! ;)) And we did the usual…hubby slept, daughter and son were on the computers and I was reading!

This year the husband and I had a quiet evening at home to bring in the new year. We spent Dec 26-30 in New Orleans. While we were there, we took a couple of plantation tours and a haunted vampire tour in the French Quarter. On all of these tours, they mentioned where scenes from Interview with a Vampire were filmed. Since the husband and I hadn’t seen Interview with a Vampire, we watched it on NYE. It was fun to notice the place we had seen in the movie. After the movie we watched the ball drop, drank some port and went to bed.

We usually spend the evening inside with family and friends, lots of good eats…playing cards (poker) and listening to music until the ball’s about to drop. Then the wine is poured, toasts made, kisses shared…and then the party usually continues for a little while longer. Those that drank a little too much, or came without a designated driver snuggle in for the night…that’s just how we play. Better safe than sorry. 🙂 Happy 2012!
