Revisions, Submissions, Ideas — oh my!

These last few weeks I’ve been busy with revisions on two projects. One was just tinkering and polishing to a gleaming shine. The other was a little more intensive. That one involved adding new scenes—the *fun* kind ;)—and tinkering with the inner conflict of my characters. The end product of both led to a new round of submissions. Cross your fingers that my first sale is just around the corner!

Now I’m getting back to revisions on another WIP that I had started revising back in January. I’m hoping to get this one done and ready for submission by mid-March—sooner if possible.

And I’m itching to start on something new! But what? Should I try to write a sequel to the novella I hope to sell soon based on one of the secondary characters? Do I write another single title? Should that single title be something completely new and different or should it be based on a character from the one I’m subbing to agents right now? Or…do I live life on the edge and succumb to the repeated suggestion from a writer friend that I try my hand at erotica? *That last one still terrifies me a little!*

Decisions, decisions. What do you think? What are you working on right now?

This Roller Coaster Called Writing

Yep. A giant roller coaster with highs and lows and twisty turns. It’s enough to make you queasy.

Last week I was riding the high—my inbox filled with awesomeness. This week it’s been straight downhill—a couple not so awesome emails. I know it’s all part of the process so I celebrate the little successes and have a minor pity party for the little upsets. Not much more I can do except put my butt back in the seat and hold on for dear life. I’ll keep writing and working and learning as the roller coaster tries to throw me off balance.

I’m glad I have some good writer friends to ride this crazy roller coaster with. Hold on tight, I think I see a loop-de-loop up ahead!

Sign of Things to Come?

I had two more little nuggets of wonderfulness in my inbox today. Too early to share, but thrilling for me nonetheless. Maybe this is a good sign of things to come this year?

That is all. Carry on.

Fortune Cookie Prophecy?

We had Chinese food earlier this week. I usually get fortune cookies that say something like: You like Chinese food. Really? Wow, deep. Meanwhile my DH will get ones that say something like: Truly, you are the greatest. Really? Wow, nice. Real fair.

But this week when I opened my fortune cookie, this is what I found:

An exciting opportunity lies ahead of you.

Interesting…
