Hoppy Easter Blog Hop!

Contest is now closed to new comments! Congratulations to the winners!!

Winners of Backlist title: Shadow Kohler!

Winner of $25 GC: Jemi Fraser!

Welcome back to another fun blog hop!! I love doing these. Meeting new readers is just too much fun. If you’re new to my blog, it’s nice to meet you. And if you’re a returning friend, it’s nice to see you again!

I like Easter as a holiday. It’s fun for the kids and I get to eat a lot of chocolate. My favorite begin Cadbury mini eggs and cream eggs. Delicious! Every year we dip Easter eggs in dye and make a huge mess. And the bunny always leaves a bunch of eggs around the house and outside for the kids to find filled with candy, chocolate, stickers, and tiny toys. So fun!!

So what’s your favorite part about Easter? Leave your answer in a comment for a chance to win! *By leaving a comment, you are also signing up for my “Only if I Have Big News!” newsletter. I will never share your information or spam you. I promise to respect your inbox!

Sunny California? Not so much. Amelia’s stuck at the office retreat in frickin’ Lake Tahoe with a grabby colleague who thinks he’s God’s gift to women. At least the workshop presenter is super hot… if only she can get him to take her from the bunny hill to the bedroom.

Amelia Brooks agrees to a weekend retreat in California, thinking it will be held in sunny Malibu only to find out she’s stuck in chilly Lake Tahoe for four long days–just what a girl from Minnesota wants to hear in the middle of winter. Now instead of wiggling her toes in the sand, her feet are squeezed into her new manufactured-by-Satan-himself-uncomfortable boots. If that’s not enough, Amelia’s obnoxious colleague William has decided this is the weekend they’ll finally be together and he won’t keep his thoughts–or his hands–to himself.
Amelia’s ready to kick off those boots and peel off her wooly sweater once she meets Nate Miller–the workshop’s hunky presenter. But Nate’s not ready to settle down. He’s seen his workshop buddies fall in love then fall out of the running for being promoted to the big city workshop circuit and he’s not about to let that happen to his life’s dream–until he gets involved with Amelia. Now he’s not so sure he can walk away at the end of the weekend with his heart intact and his promotion in hand.
Now Amelia’s got four days to stave off William’s persistent advances long enough to fall in love with Nate and possibly…learn to ski the bunny hill.

New Contract!!

Woot!! I’m so excited to share the news! I’ve been offered a new contract with Silver Publishing for another Meadow Ridge Romance. I don’t have many details about the release just yet. But I do have the blurb! And in case you’re curious, YES, this Rebecca is the same one from Love and Lattes. But I promise she’s not the bitchy manager you think she is…

LOVE OR LUXURY (A Meadow Ridge Romance)

Rebecca’s life of luxury in Meadow Ridge is vanishing faster than the designer clothes from her closet as she sells them to pay rent—unless she finds someone to share her life and her rent.

When she meets Finn, the rugged, sexy motorcycle hunk, she thinks her luck is finally changing. There’s just one problem—he’s not from Meadow Ridge. Reid, her high school flame, comes back to town as the Meadow’s most eligible bachelor with a tendency to spoil her and a gorgeous mansion—everything she’s always wanted.

Now Rebecca’s torn between Finn, the man who lives a simple life outside the Meadow, and Reid, the man who can give her the life she’s always wanted.

Character Crossovers

My all-time favorite reality show—The Amazing Race—is back on TV for a new season!

This season, one of the teams is Brendon and Rachel from Big Brother. Now I watched BB so I know who they are and what they were like on that show. And while I enjoyed watching them on BB—and I even thought they played the game of BB very well!—I’m finding it harder and harder to watch them on the race each week. I keep expecting them to eat slop and make out in the HOH room! It’s weird! And I’m not sure they’re handling the stress of racing around the world as well as some of the other teams.

They’re not the first crossover characters on The Amazing Race that have felt out of place to me. I remember when Boston Rob and Amber (Survivor) were on the show. I loved those two!! But on the race, if still felt weird to watch them. I expected them to be eating rice and hanging out in a palm tree talking about Rob’s newest plan to outsmart the other castaways. I LOVED Boston Rob on Survivor! He was so entertaining to watch… But not so much on the Amazing Race. I don’t know why.

So it got me thinking about crossover characters in books. If you read the first book in a series, do you want to see the characters from that first book crossover into the second for a guest appearance? I can’t say as that’s ever bothered me in a book before but maybe that’s because it happens within a series. What if characters from one series crossed over into another series by the same author? Then would that be weird? If an author has a series about witches and another about werewolves, would it bother you if some of your favorite witches showed up in werewolf world? Does it make a difference in books versus TV?

Inspirations for Love on Landing

Paris sunset. Does it get better than this?

I thought it might be fun to share some of the inspiration behind LOVE ON LANDING.

In 2003 my husband was asked to travel to France for an animation festival in Angouleme. We figured it was a great opportunity to take a little trip together. So we both went! After a few days in Angouleme, we took the train to Paris and stayed for about a week. It was amazing! We spent the entire week walking around the city taking in the sites, eating great food, and drinking way to much Beaujolais nouveau (fancy name for wine in November!)–Gee, I wonder where Tali and Gavin got the idea that drinking a bottle of wine with a pizza for dinner was a good idea? Couldn’t possibly have been because my dear husband convinced me we should order a bottle of wine with our dinner instead of a glass…

Another stop along our tour was the Louvre. It was huge and unbelievable! I think we only saw a portion of it, but it was something I’ll never forget. I would love to go back there again someday. About the only thing I didn’t like was the smell. The Louvre and Versailles had a funny smell to me. I have no idea what caused it, but I’m guess it was the paintings maybe?! And the scent reminded me of something sort of like honey.

The Louvre!

The Louvre at night!

On Another day we took in Musee D’Orsay. I loved it there! The artwork was breathtaking. I never imagined I would love it so much. But I did. Loved it!! So of course when I was thinking of things that Tali and Gavin might go and do, it came to mind. Being that Tali has a secret passion for art, it makes total sense for her to love it there too!

Inside the Musee D'Orsay

Me on top of the Arc De Triomphe. There were a ton of stairs to climb to get up there. Actually, come to think of it, there were a lot of stairs at everything we saw. We definitely earned all the crepes and hot chocolates we consumed!

Our little hotel courtyard. I don’t remember the name of the place, but it was cute and functional and minutes from the Eiffel Tower.

When I went through my old photos I found this one. I have no idea where it is in the city of Paris, but I can totally imagine Tali shopping here!

Me and hubs near the Eiffel Tower. We look so young. And not tired. LOL. This was a couple years before the kids came and the lack of sleep started. 🙂 Some day, maybe we’ll get back to this exact place and take a picture of us with the kiddies. That would be awesome!

The Eiffel Tower!

When Tali tries to recover from a recent break-up with a trip to Paris for some retail therapy, she discovers shopping isn’t the only way to cure her broken heart. On route, she meets new pilot, Gavin. Tali and Gavin have instant chemistry and friction as their personalities clash at 30,000 feet.

One night in bed isn’t enough to quell the fireworks between Tali and Gavin, and when tempers erupt, Tali’s ex-boyfriend is there to pick up the pieces. Too bad she’s finally realized what she really wants in life… and it isn’t her ex or the life her father has planned back home.

Now all Tali wants is the man who loved her enough to tell her what she didn’t want to hear, but can she win his heart back again on the trip home and find Love on Landing?
