Did you ever have this assignment when you first went back to school? I have. And I feel like I have to do it again after the summer I’ve had.
We started the summer with a 2.5 week vacation home to Canada to visit with family. Every year we make the trip so our kids can get a good dose of Canadian culture and spend time with Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents and friends. It’s always a good time!
When we got back to NY it was time to finish packing up our house and move. But we didn’t go far. Only one mile away! That mile took an awful lot of work! Now that we’ve been here 1 month, we’re mostly unpacked, sort of settled and not at all decorated. But at least we know where all the necessities are! We did manage to do some painting so at least there is color on a few of the walls! Hopefully it won’t take too long to decorate once we get to that point.
We didn’t want the summer to turn into all work and no play for the kids so we made sure to put some of the unpacking/decorating on hold until the cooler weather sets in. Our friends invited us to Medieval Times and since we’d never been, we couldn’t resist going! 2 hours in traffic later, we pull into the parking lot only for my oldest to look out the window and say, “Wow, that’s a fake castle.” I couldn’t stop laughing! Good thing the show was entertaining and the food was delicious.
We love being outside in the summer and didn’t want to miss any nice days by hanging out indoors. Two of our favorite things to do as a family are hiking and geocaching. Luckily, we’ve been able to do both this summer!
How did you spend your summer vacation??

spent mine finishing a home renovation/addition. I can say that I am officially done as of last Friday and now I get to enjoy. I can’t believe that Labor Day weekend is coming up soon and that college football is starting too. I can say that every chance I got to go to my outdoor neighborhood pool I did. I took a book with me and after my laps I read. It was so enjoyable.

Eileen, reading by the pool was on my to-do list this summer, but we didn’t get as many pool days as usual due to activities and weather. My book is still waiting to be read! Sounds like you had a wonderful summer!
