Meet the Madcacher!

Not much longer until my new book STUCK ON YOU hits the shelves! Of course, you can pre-order it from AMAZON today if you don’t want to worry about forgetting to go buy your copy when it releases on Feb 11th.

But I’m not here to chat about my book today. I’m here because in my book, the contestants of the new reality TV show Treasure Trekkers go geocaching to find prizes. And I’ve realized that many of my readers may not know what geocaching is. So to introduce you to the super fun world of geocaching, I’ve teamed up with the Madcacher himself! Madcacher and author Kurt Milligan paired up with author EJ Martin to co-write this awesome and informative guide about creating unique or hard to find geocaches. I can barely find the easy caches. I think book will make my searches much more challenging in the future!!

Here’s a little more info about the book. You can find it on AMAZON when you’re ready to pick up your copy!

Geocaching is an increasingly popular outdoor activity that combines high-tech navigation with treasure hunting. Because players hide and seek the treasures; we’ve created a collection of “devilish” caches to make the hunt a more challenging and rewarding experience. Get creative and explore the fun of hiding your very own unique or hard to find geocache.

Here’s an excerpt from his book to help fill you in on what geocaching is!

WHAT IS GEOCACHING? – (Excerpt)

Have you ever dreamed of finding lost treasure like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn did? Maybe you were intrigued with the adventures of Long John Silver and Jim Hawkins in the classic story, Treasure Island. If you prefer movies, then perhaps the puzzle solving skills of Benjamin Franklin Gates and Abigail Chase in the “National Treasure” series pique your interest.

All of these captivating stories reflect many peoples’ fantasies about finding lost treasure while at the same time inspiring us to seek adventure, solve complicated riddles, and find a chest overflowing with gold doubloons and silver chalices studded with shimmering red rubies. If you fit into this group, and most of us do, then you’re going to like what we have to tell you about geocaching.

Geocaching is a new kind of hybrid sport that assimilates some of the most up-to-date technology into traditional recreational activities such as hiking, biking, and swimming. Adding the dimension of an occasional brainteaser into the mix enhances the activity’s appeal tremendously….

As a geocacher myself, I can tell you that once you try it and find your first cache, it’s hard to resist the temptation of trying to find your next and your next and your next cache! Seriously, it becomes a bit addictive! But that’s okay. It’s a good addiction. One that gets you outside into nature, learning more about where you live and exploring areas near you that you’ve probably driven past without so much as a glance.

And it’s something the whole family can get do together!! My family started geocaching when youngest was about 2 or 3. Of course, you try to do easier caches with the little ones, but they love finding ‘hidden treasure!’ I’ll be posting some pictures from our adventures in geocaching soon!
