Update June 2016

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged anything!

Yikes.

Here’s a quick update of what’s been keeping me busy.

WRITING:

Let’s just say this school year got away from me. It feels like I did a lot, and nothing, all at the same time. I worked to get books ready to re-list after getting rights back, I wrote a new novel (yet to be published), worked on a few secret projects that I’m not ready to share yet (if ever), and did a lot of soul-searching for what I want to do next.

Writing has always been my passion. I don’t think I’ll ever stop. It’s more a question of what I want to write and why and for who. It’s about what makes my heart happy. It’s about what makes me feel successful and fulfilled and validated. Those are things only I can figure out for myself. And I’m still working on it.

I usually try to take summers off to spend with my kids, aside from some editing work. This year will be much the same, only I’ll have hubs home for a couple of months too! I’m really looking forward to spending some uninterrupted time together as a family after his crazy-busy, full of traveling, last couple of years. Life has been hectic for our family so hanging poolside for a while sounds so, so wonderful.

LIFE:

There’s been a lot of illness back home with family members. Everyone is holding up okay and doing well right now. But seeing family get sick makes you realize what is and is not important. Having a book release every 6 months is not. Having huge book sales is not. Enjoying my time on Earth, making sure my family (near and far) knows I love them, making the time to live a healthy, BALANCED life… IS IMPORTANT. It so is. This is what I’ve been working on the most this past year. Balance.

Unfortunately, while trying to get better balance, I did too much on the healthy side and ended up with a foot injury. I’ve been off exercise now for 2.5 months while I’ve been trying to fix it with rest and physical therapy. It’s been annoying and a test of patience, but I’m finally getting close to healing. Once I’m given the go ahead to exercise again, I’ll work hard to find a better balance, listen to my body more, and I won’t push myself harder than I should. Lesson learned.

So that’s it. My update in a nutshell.

I’m still here, plugging away at life and work.
