Inspirations for Love on Landing

Paris sunset. Does it get better than this?

I thought it might be fun to share some of the inspiration behind LOVE ON LANDING.

In 2003 my husband was asked to travel to France for an animation festival in Angouleme. We figured it was a great opportunity to take a little trip together. So we both went! After a few days in Angouleme, we took the train to Paris and stayed for about a week. It was amazing! We spent the entire week walking around the city taking in the sites, eating great food, and drinking way to much Beaujolais nouveau (fancy name for wine in November!)–Gee, I wonder where Tali and Gavin got the idea that drinking a bottle of wine with a pizza for dinner was a good idea? Couldn’t possibly have been because my dear husband convinced me we should order a bottle of wine with our dinner instead of a glass…

Another stop along our tour was the Louvre. It was huge and unbelievable! I think we only saw a portion of it, but it was something I’ll never forget. I would love to go back there again someday. About the only thing I didn’t like was the smell. The Louvre and Versailles had a funny smell to me. I have no idea what caused it, but I’m guess it was the paintings maybe?! And the scent reminded me of something sort of like honey.

On Another day we took in Musee D’Orsay. I loved it there! The artwork was breathtaking. I never imagined I would love it so much. But I did. Loved it!! So of course when I was thinking of things that Tali and Gavin might go and do, it came to mind. Being that Tali has a secret passion for art, it makes total sense for her to love it there too!

Inside the Musee D'Orsay

Me on top of the Arc De Triomphe. There were a ton of stairs to climb to get up there. Actually, come to think of it, there were a lot of stairs at everything we saw. We definitely earned all the crepes and hot chocolates we consumed!

Our little hotel courtyard. I don’t remember the name of the place, but it was cute and functional and minutes from the Eiffel Tower.

When I went through my old photos I found this one. I have no idea where it is in the city of Paris, but I can totally imagine Tali shopping here!

Me and hubs near the Eiffel Tower. We look so young. And not tired. LOL. This was a couple years before the kids came and the lack of sleep started. 🙂 Some day, maybe we’ll get back to this exact place and take a picture of us with the kiddies. That would be awesome!

When Tali tries to recover from a recent break-up with a trip to Paris for some retail therapy, she discovers shopping isn’t the only way to cure her broken heart. On route, she meets new pilot, Gavin. Tali and Gavin have instant chemistry and friction as their personalities clash at 30,000 feet.

One night in bed isn’t enough to quell the fireworks between Tali and Gavin, and when tempers erupt, Tali’s ex-boyfriend is there to pick up the pieces. Too bad she’s finally realized what she really wants in life… and it isn’t her ex or the life her father has planned back home.

Now all Tali wants is the man who loved her enough to tell her what she didn’t want to hear, but can she win his heart back again on the trip home and find Love on Landing?
