Ask an Author: Sandra Sookoo-Marking Time

I’m thrilled to welcome Sandra Sookoo to my blog today! I’ve only met Sandra online and I’ve only known her for a little while, but I have to say that she is definitely an inspiration to me. She has an impressive list of available titles! Before I start gushing more, let’s just get on with the questions!

Where do you get your ideas?

I get my ideas from life.  Everything around me–the out of doors, people watching, books, TV shows, overheard conversations, everything has the potential to kick start a story.

I guess that’s true for most writers, isn’t it? I wouldn’t have believed that before, but it’s true. Ideas happen everywhere. How do you find time to balance all the aspects needed to be an author? Writing, promoting, ideas, edits?

Sometimes it’s very difficult. If I’m on a promo jag, I’ve found it’s exhausting work and I probably won’t write that week. When ideas come, I jot them down into a Word document so I don’t forget, but won’t give them life until I’ve had a chance to think on them a bit further.

I hear ya! I’m struggling with the balance of it all right now and man oh man is it a challenge! You seem to be able to do it all! You write in many different genres and many different lengths. Which is your favorite to write? What length is your favorite to write?

Historical romance is my favorite to write. My favorite length? Probably 30-50K. Sometimes if I do paranormal the sweet spot is 20-30K.

How do you come up with titles?

LOL that’s more difficult. It’s actually the most difficult part for me. Sometimes my husband come up with the good ones. Sometimes the publisher has to help me out. On rare occasions, I’ll have that title before I even begin work.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who can be title-challenged at times! And last but not least, the most important question of them all and one I hand-picked just for you… If you could be any Disney character, who would you be and why?

Awesome! Hmm, which character would I be? It would have to Alice or Mary Poppins. Alice because she went on amazing adventures through a fantasy land and Mary Poppins because she’s magical and very, very organized LOL. Thanks for having me on your blog!

Thank you for being here, Sandra! I hope everyone will take a peek at your newest book, Marking Time and I highly suggest checking out her back list of titles as well! You won’t be disappointed!!

Sometimes the destination is not as important as the journey.

Ava Lesarris has her life figured out. She has a great job, has accepted her latent wolf shifter identity and is looking forward to climbing the corporate ladder. When a faulty GPS unit leads her to a town called Strange Hollow, she’s in a quandary, even more so when she’s suddenly transported back to the year 1900.

Sam Tremaine is the last of his kind. He’s a phoenix, living in Strange Hollow during what should have been its greatest time–the founding year, but he can’t enjoy it. He’s dying, which leaves him with one regret. He’s never found a woman whose spirit is as strong as his own. He wants be remembered but time is running out, not to mention he hasn’t been able to get “it” up for months.

Worlds collide as the past and present come together in Strange Hollow. Ava will need to figure out her purpose while Sam struggles to come to terms with his fate. If they’re lucky, the special town will offer the answers they’re both seeking before the next phase of life begins.
