Rockin’ *Write* Along

Haha, I amuse myself. Must be because my brain is slowly turning to mush. No really…squishy gray matter is about to drip out of my orifices like disgusting zombie boogers. Ewww… Moving on.

However, I’m rocking right along on my NaNo novel! It’s about half way through day four and I just crested 15K!!!! Whoo to the hoo! Now, I feel like I should clarify that number for all you doubters out there. I’ve written 4-5K each day and it’s been totally doable. And no, I’m not sitting here for only one hour at my computer and just spewing gobs of nonsense to get that word count either. These are good words. USABLE words!! Not all of them will be used of course. In fact, there are already some with a nice black line through them so that I know to cut them out later, but those are few and far between.

For the majority of these 15K, I’m pretty happy. I know there will be lots of time spent later editing, but there always is. This project will be no different in that way from any other book ever written. But, I’ve been putting in the time to get these words. I write while the kids are at school, or watching the occasion show (as is the case right now. Thanks Word World on PBS!!), and in the evenings

Heather you are kicking Nano butt! I wasn’t able to even sit down to write my nano book (I did write my advice column and blog) until 9:42pm. And I’m normally in bed by 10pm! But I still met my daily 3K goal, bring me up to 14K.

I am currently having a bit of a problem with my plot, however. I think. Wondering how Stephen King does it – writes 2K a day, every day of his life, pantsing it all the way. I’m starting to wonder if going into Nano with zero outline wasn’t um, dumb. We’ll see I guess!

Grandpa is watching DS all day so I have plenty of time to write today, whoo hoo!

Keep those words coming. I’m proud of you guys who are willing to do this challenge.

      Thanks Janet,

I’m impressed by your book title count! Something for me to aspire to!

Amazing productivity, Heather! Keep up the good work. (I find myself a bit envious!)

Thanks Wendy! I’ve had so much fun this week trying to get the word count that I keep going over and above my goal for the day. I’m just loving these characters and the story is so fun! I’m excited to write each day.

    Good luck.

Thanks Taryn! Hopefully it will turn out good. And I know I’ll be working on it long after the month is over.

    Hey Heather,
You are doing great! I am deep in it too – feel a little mommy guilt since I am pushing the kids to way too much television but productivity is awesome. Just coasted to 8000 words today and it’s actually good – not crap! Hooray! Shoshanna made a great point with Stephen King though, it’s def not easy!!

Hi Jennifer, Sounds like you’re making great progress on your NaNo novel! I’m trying not to write too much while the kids are home since I get a nice chunk of time while they’re at school. But I’ll admit, I may have suggested we watch an extra show or two last week 🙂
